About the Theme:
The difference between stealing and getting inspiration is that stealing is taking another person's work and saying that it's yours. Where as inspiration is taking the an idea or part of the work and adding your own ideas to it to create an original piece.
I think that it is okay to use parts of other works as long as you say who you got the idea or part of the piece from. Also if you do take a part of a piece you should make sure that the final piece is completely different and your own so that know one things that you just took the work that inspired you.

I combined the pieces that I did because sea turtles have always been one of my favorite animals and adding flowers to make the shell just seem like the perfect thing.
I choose to use acrylic paint because I find painting fun and I thought it would be the easiest medium to get all different colors out of so that the flowers weren't all the same.
If I could go back and change one thing about my piece it would be the color I did the background. I wish that I had done a lighter, more sea like color so that you could see the fins and head of the turtle better.
The most successful thing about my piece is the fact that I managed to get different types of flowers on the shell and they were more than one color. Another thing I thought was successful was the way I added white and a light green to show the movement of the water and turtle.
